The Family Support Center of Southwestern Utah opened its doors in Richfield Friday.
The center is designed to provide a number of services to families with children.
“Our mission is to protect children and preserve families,” said Connie Sowards, executive director. The center offers its services to families free of charge.
Services include —
• Respite care
• Crisis care
• Visitation exchange
• Home visitation services
• Parenting classes
• Post adoptive services
“Anyone can use it,” Sowards said. She said the center is not intended to be used every day, but can be used a way to effectively de-escalate situations in homes.
The Richfield location is one of 11 support centers in the state. It will employ approximately 10 people.
